On Wednesday evening President George W. Bush delivered his fifth State of the Union address to the nation. Immediately after his speech a pair of leading Democrats offered the Democrat State of the Union. I found some very interesting points in each. What did you hear?

President George W. Bush: Wants to reform domestic programs that are not performing and which are wasting tax dollars

The Democrat Party: Want to increase taxes and create more domestic programs without any judgment

President George W. Bush: Wants to continue to raise the standard in our public schools

The Democrat Party: Wants to eliminate all standards in public schools and let unions decide what is best for your children

President George W. Bush: Wants to hold corporate criminals accountable for their actions

The Democrat Party: Want to base criminal prosecution on how much the individual has donated to the party

President George W. Bush: Feels that jobs are created when the economy grows; the economy grows when Americans have more money to spend and invest; and the best and fairest way to make sure Americans have that money is not to tax it away in the first place.

The Democrat Party: Feels government can decide where the money is best “invested” or spent; therefore raising taxes is the more desirable option

President George W. Bush: Proposing that all the income tax reductions set for 2004 and 2006 be made permanent and effective this year.

The Democrat Party: Opposed to reducing taxes in any way.

President George W. Bush: Instead of slowly raising the child credit to $1,000, wants to send the checks to American families now

The Democrat Party: Wants to eliminate the child credit all together, now or any time in the future.

President George W. Bush: Believes that tax relief is for everyone who pays income taxes

The Democrat Party: Believes that tax relief should only be for those not already paying taxes each year.

President George W. Bush: Lower taxes and greater private investment will help this economy expand.

The Democrat Party: Higher taxes will allow for more governmental spending in what the party feels is better.

President George W. Bush: Federal spending should not raise any faster than the paychecks of American families.

The Democrat Party: Higher taxes and higher federal spending should not be a concern of the average American families.

President George W. Bush: Four years of debate on a National Energy Policy is long enough.

The Democrat Party: We should not rush to a decision until we have at least 20 years to collect data and/or a Democrat in the White House.

President George W. Bush: I am very optomistic about the future of the United States as aworld leader.

The Democrat Party: We are afraid the United States has passed its prime and now must learn to follow others in the world.
