Alan Caruba
Alan Caruba is the founder of The National Anxiety Center, a clearinghouse for information about "scare campaigns," begun in 1990 initially to debunk environmental claims but which has since expanded to include many other topics such as education, immigration, and Islam. Caruba began his professional career as a working journalist and, since the 1970s, has been a public relations counselor. He is the author of several books and has written numerous magazine articles over the years.

R.A. Hawkins
Richard Hawkins was born in Aurora, Colorado and grew up in Littleton, Colorado in a quiet little neighborhood nobody has ever heard of called Columbine Knolls. He has been married to the same woman for twenty-six years, and worked for the same aerospace company for twenty-eight. His primary interests over the years have been his family, sociology, mastering his survival skills, windsurfing, music, politics, raising wolves, art of all types, mycology, perma-culture, archeological anomalies, geo-politics and staying gainfully employed; not necessarily in that order. He often describes himself as a separate subspecies of human – ‘Eclecticus-Iconoclastimus’. His primary driving force is his unwavering belief that as sovereign citizens we are each responsible not only for our own beliefs and actions, but where those beliefs and actions take us in life: That the truly intelligent person learns to determine what the consequences might be for our beliefs and actions and then acts accordingly. Our individual actions always affect far more than we can imagine. R.A. Hawkins is the author of "Through Eyes of Shiva," available via Amazon.com. More of Mr. Hawkins' commentaries can be found on his web site, Entropical Paradise.

Jonathan David Morris
Jonathan David Morris is a political writer based in New Jersey. A strong believer in small government, JDM often takes aim at oppressive taxes, entitlements, and laws, writing about incompetence at the highest levels of culture and government. Catch his weekly ramblings on his web site.

Rep. Ron Paul Congressman Ron Paul of Texas enjoys a national reputation as the premier advocate for liberty in politics today. Dr. Paul is the leading spokesman in Washington for limited constitutional government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to sound monetary policies based on commodity-backed currency. He is known among both his colleagues in Congress and his constituents for his consistent voting record in the House of Representatives: Dr. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Dr. Paul is the "one exception to the Gang of 535" on Capitol Hill.

Frank Salvato
is the managing editor for The New Media Journal. He serves at the Executive Director of the Basics Project, a non-profit, non-partisan, 501(C)(3) research and education initiative. His pieces are regularly featured in over 100 publications both nationally and internationally. He has appeared on The O'Reilly Factor, and is a regular guest on The Right Balance with Greg Allen on the Accent Radio Network, as well as an
occasional guest on numerous radio shows coast to coast. His organization, Basics Project, is partnered in producing the first-ever national symposium series on the threat of radical Islamist terrorism. His pieces have been recognized by the House International Relations Committee and the Japan
Center for Conflict. Mr. Salvato is available for public speaking
engagements.

Nancy Salvato
Nancy Salvato is the President of The Basics Project, a non-profit, non-partisan research and educational project whose mission is to promote the education of the American public on the basic elements of relevant political, legal and social issues important to our country. America’s Moral Values Worry Everyone

I’ve always taken some pride in the way I was raised and have striven to conduct my life. I am no moral paragon, but I regard my sins as fairly minor and certainly no problem to anyone around me. My bad habits tend to be a fondness for good cigars, the occasional sip of cream sherry, and indulgences such as a daily dose of ice cream and a bit of candy.

I am, moreover, suspicious of people who harangue the rest of us for our bad behavior when, it seems, they often end up being exposed as hypocrites. That said, I think we need our priests, our pastors, and our rabbis to remind us of how beneficial a life devoted to clean thoughts, good deeds, and proper behavior can be. Read the rest...

I've Seen The Enemy
(Protests are Educational and Funny)

My wife and I decided to go and greet the nice Sheehan/ANSWER crowd as they marched on the 17th in Washington DC. It turns out that they march every year in protest of the overthrow of any tyrants, unless of course it is a liberal that started the war. It is quite different to see it in person rather than on the Internet or to read about it, so here is my impression:

Never in my life have I seen anything more amusing. Now I have to admit I found it to be a little sad at the same time. The only reason I felt any sadness was that the peace protestors were actually sincere. Every one of them had the same level of sincerity etched on their normally blank faces as one might see on a three year old wondering if it would really hurt if he rode his tricycle down a four hundred foot flight of stone steps. The 2008 Presidential Blowout!

Ah, the presidential election.

It feels sort of weird to be discussing the 2008 presidential election. After all, it’s only March 2007. However, that’s what’s in the news, and the news is what I write about.

What I like about this particular election is that the main discussion so far seems to revolve around all the candidates being inherently unelectable. This makes sense. To me, anyone who would actually want to be president should probably be disqualified. Read the rest...

Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX)

The DC Gun Ban

Last Friday a federal appeals court in Washington DC issued a ruling that hopefully will result in the restoration of 2nd Amendment rights in the nation's capital. It appears the Court rejected the District of Columbia 's nonsensical argument that the 2nd Amendment confers only a "collective right," something gun control advocates have asserted for years.

Of course we should not have too much faith in our federal courts to protect gun rights, considering they routinely rubber stamp egregious violations of the 1st, 4th, and 5th Amendments, and allow Congress to legislate wildly outside the bounds of its enumerated powers. Furthermore, the DC case will be appealed to the Supreme Court with no guarantees. But it is very important nonetheless for a federal court only one step below the highest court in the land to recognize that gun rights adhere to the American people, not to government-sanctioned groups. Rights, by definition, are individual. "Group rights" is an oxymoron. Read the rest...

We Better Hurry Up and “Redeploy”
So the Killing Can Start Again

The debate over the US military’s engagement on the Iraqi battlefield is raging on Capitol Hill with congressional Democrats attempting to defund the campaign through back-channel means. Simultaneously, reports are coming from a multitude of sources – both inside and outside of Iraq – that testify to the overwhelming success, to date, of President Bush’s “surge” initiative. Why are our elected officials wasting taxpayer dollars, allocated in the form of their salaries, to debate turning a victory into a defeat?

Anti-war activists, the mainstream media and liberal Democrats like Harry Reid, David Obey and Ted “Hope Floats” Kennedy are no strangers to ripping defeat from the jaws of victory. A perfect example of this can be found in the Vietnam War where politicians interfered with the generals to literally hand the Communist North Vietnamese a victory. Read the rest...
