In the 1970s, as a public relations consultant, I helped introduce a new pesticide to the American market. More specifically, to the pest control industry as it was not available for use by the public. It was called “Ficam” and, after having undergone the costly Environmental Protection Agency registration process, it was quickly and widely used by pest control professionals, not just for its capacity to eliminate cockroaches and a variety of other pest insects, but because it was applied with nothing more toxic than water. For two decades this pesticide thrived. I wrote case histories of where it was used in hotels, casinos, restaurants, and theme parks, as well as in homes and apartments. The pest control profession embraced it and there never was a single case of it causing any hazard to those who applied it or benefited from it. I never found out why, but for some reason the EPA demanded that the manufacturer re-register the product and the decision was made that would be withdrawn instead. It was just too costly to prove what everyone already knew. Read the rest... |

When I look at the current state of affairs in American politics I have to say that it ain’t too purty. I realize that some might immediately think that I’m referring to Pelosi and Hillary when I write like 500 miles of busted concrete (an understandable mistake mind you), but I’m referring to both parties right now. On one side we have the likes of McCain and Giuliani and Romney. And on the other we have a laughable catastrophe. Read the rest... R.A. Hawkins Web Site Contact Back to Top |

Dear The American People, Hi there from your friends at the White House. As you may know, the worst paper in the history of civilization, The New York Times, recently published an editorial called “The Must-Do List.” This editorial called on our friends in the Democratic Congress to undo the last five years of so-called “presidential overreach” and “Congressional collaboration.” If the paper gets its way, everything we’ve worked so hard to accomplish will be overturned. Which would suck. In the interests of open, fair, and balanced government, we’ve decided to answer a few of the Old Bag Lady’s concerns point-by-point. As you will see, nothing the Worst Paper Ever says makes any sense whatsoever, while everything we say is better and good. Read the rest... Jonathan David Morris Web Site Contact Back to Top |

If you didn’t see the show, Mr. Walker’s theme was simple: government entitlement spending is like a runaway freight train headed straight at American taxpayers. He singled out the Medicare prescription drug bill, passed by Congress at the end of 2003, as “probably the most fiscally irresponsible piece of legislation since the 1960s.” When it comes to Social Security and Medicare, the federal government simply won’t be able to keep its promises in the future. That is the reality every American should get used to, despite the grand promises of Washington reformers. Our entitlement system can’t be reformed — it’s too late. And the Medicare prescription drug bill is the final nail in the coffin. Read the rest... Rep. Ron Paul Web Site Back to Top |

The debate over the verdict in the Lewis “Scooter” Libby obstruction of justice and perjury trial will go on for years. The fact that the catalyst for the investigation – whether Valerie Plame was classified as a covert agent at the time of the so-called “leak” – is but one of the contentious issues. But if we allow this adjudication to become politicized, if we allow revisionists like Harry Reid to rewrite the actualities of the case, we are not only doing a disservice to our country we would be complicit in its degradation. Harry Reid and the politically opportune of the Progressive-Left wing of the Democrat Party are no strangers to rewriting history to suit their agenda. You need only to look back to the most recent election to find evidence to that effect. Read the rest... |
