Alan Caruba
Alan Caruba is the founder of The National Anxiety Center, a clearinghouse for information about "scare campaigns," begun in 1990 initially to debunk environmental claims but which has since expanded to include many other topics such as education, immigration, and Islam. Caruba began his professional career as a working journalist and, since the 1970s, has been a public relations counselor. He is the author of several books and has written numerous magazine articles over the years.

R.A. Hawkins
Richard Hawkins was born in Aurora, Colorado and grew up in Littleton, Colorado in a quiet little neighborhood nobody has ever heard of called Columbine Knolls. He has been married to the same woman for twenty-six years, and worked for the same aerospace company for twenty-eight. His primary interests over the years have been his family, sociology, mastering his survival skills, windsurfing, music, politics, raising wolves, art of all types, mycology, perma-culture, archeological anomalies, geo-politics and staying gainfully employed; not necessarily in that order. He often describes himself as a separate subspecies of human – ‘Eclecticus-Iconoclastimus’. His primary driving force is his unwavering belief that as sovereign citizens we are each responsible not only for our own beliefs and actions, but where those beliefs and actions take us in life: That the truly intelligent person learns to determine what the consequences might be for our beliefs and actions and then acts accordingly. Jonathan David Morris

There have been many times in his long public career when I have wondered whether Al Gore is just plain stupid or, as the British say, barking mad

At some point, his neighbors and fellow Tennessee citizens must have concluded Gore was intellectually defective because, in his run for the presidency in 2000, he failed to get that State’s plurality. Maybe it had something to do with that long, long, long kiss he gave Tipper before accepting the nomination of his party? That was bizarre.

No one wants to admit that they may have voted for someone who is seriously stupid. Those who voted for Bush may have misgivings, but at least he does not go around saying the world is coming to an end from global warming while the nation and large parts of the globe are in the grip of bone-chilling cold and deep drifts of snow and ice Read the rest...

Huey P. Long was once asked if he thought that fascism would ever come to America. He said that if it did it would be called anti-fascism. I noticed that was one of the quotes left out in Sean Penn’s rendition of the Huey P. Long story. I often wondered why they decided to do that movie. I guess it had to do with the fact that he took on a bunch of corrupt corporations and politicians in Louisiana. For those of you that aren’t aware of it, let’s just say the Democrats have always had a very strong grip on Louisiana. They did an awesome job of whining after Hurricane Katrina.

But I said earlier that it wouldn’t take very long before the Democrats would show what they really are all about again. The Pelosicrats will do a fine job of undoing themselves in short order. I bring to you this week a stellar example of what I mean. I’m talking about one Ms. Sheila Jackson-Lee. Read the rest...

Another Supplemental Spending Bill for the War in Iraq

Two weeks ago I discussed how Congress and the administration use our fiat money system to literally create some of the funds needed to prosecute our ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We’ve already spent more than $500 billion in Iraq, mostly through supplemental spending bills that are not part of the normal appropriations and budget process. But with costs soaring and no end to the war in sight, yet another supplemental spending bill must be passed soon—and both parties in Congress are only too willing to provide the money under the guise of supporting the troops.

Never mind that the American people showed their dissatisfaction with the war in the fall elections. Congress lacks the political will to stand up to the administration and assert its power over the purse strings, and too many vested interests in the defense sector benefit from the supplemental bills. Stifling Dissent: The Fifth Column Nazis

One has to wonder what the Founding Fathers would have thought about a group of people who would purposely choose to stifle dissent in the face of heated issues just to advance their ideological quest for control. What would they think of those who would purposely avoid engaging in meaningful, fact-based debate, devoid of spin and rhetoric instead promoting only their idea of the truth sans credible examination? Considering that they spilled blood to water the tree of liberty, it wouldn’t be a stretch to think they would consider this group contrary to everything the United States stands for.

Today, centuries after patriots gave life and limb to secure independence from just such political tyranny we are seeing it manifest among our own citizens in the form of ideological bigotry. On issue after issue we are faced with the bullhorn mentality of the “Me-First Contingent,” America’s Fifth Column.

Two glaring examples of the Fifth Column’s fingers-in-the-ears ideological bigotry can be seen in the issues of global warming and the catalyst for the Iraqi conflict. Read the rest...
