The Heartland Institute is a research and education organization for journalists and elected officials (but that doesn't mean the information isn't helpful to others, too). It is non-profit and non-partisan, and works "to discover, develop, and promote free-market solutions to social and economic problems."
The Heritage Foundation was established as "a research and educational institute—a think tank—whose mission is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense."
The Independence Institute was "established upon the eternal truths of the Declaration of Independence. Founded in 1985, the Independence Institute is a non-partisan, non-profit public policy research organization dedicated to providing timely information to concerned citizens, government officials, and public opinion leaders."
