BATFE Fails the Test I just finished
watching the DVD BATFE Fails the Test by JPFO, and am disgusted
with the outright ignorance of BATFE "Firearm Examiner" Cooney
of the Washington, D.C. How many harmless people have gone to federal
prison over the past several The DVD shows a FAL clearly malfunctioning during a BATFE test firing. Its cause was a weakened and collapsed firing pin spring, which allowed the firing pin to rebound freely (as does the AR15). This condition is highly unsafe, permitting the rifle to fire "out of battery" (i.e., before fully chambered, and when the bolt is not locked up). The defense gun expert discerned this on the range, and warned BATFE Agent Cooney that the rifle was firing out of battery, and was thus unsafe. Cooney, being mercifully free of the ravages of intelligence or even self-preservation, pooh-poohed this as "That's your opinion!" A fieldstripping of the FAL proved the defense gun expert's point. Cooney repeatedly tried to counter that the rifle fired 3-round full-auto burst because the hammer retaining plate appeared to have been modified. The defense gun expert rightly explained that the part had nothing whatsoever to do with the rifle's malfunctioning, could not cause it to fire full-auto, and that not all FALs were even manufactured with such a plate. Cooney could have said--should have said--"Gee, you just might have a point there!" But that was too much for this coarse, sweating boar of an agent. If Cooney is typical of our regulatory enemies, then things are much worse than even I imagined. Such people are not interested in the truth, but solely in putting in prison harmless Americans. Here's what I wish the defense gun expert had done: 1) Ascertain if the hammer followed the bolt carrier when the trigger was held down during any position of the selector switch. (I suspect that it did not.) 2) Look for fixed firing pin primer strikes on the rounds chambered during semi-auto selector switch firing. Folks, check all your semi-auto rifles, and those you plan on buying. If the hammer follows through during dry fire, then avoid that gun! Finally, take very detailed and high-quality photos of your semi-auto rifles' working parts. That way, if your lawful parts are modified or swapped out later by a vindictive BATFE agent, you'll have proof. I highly recommend this DVD as solid evidence of what we are up against as battle rifle owners. Show it to every government supremacist you know. If we can damage their faith in the Government's integrity, then Liberty may have a chance. And who knows: you just may plant a seed in the mind of a future juror in some BATFE case . . . Boston T.
