Criteria
for Freedom Fighter Awards
Site must be in
English - no translations, please, since grammar counts and translators
are unreliable in that regard.
I will view your
site with Internet Explorer 5.1, maximized, unless you specify otherwise.
You may nominate
your own site.
You must be 18
or older to play.
Sites must promote
freedom and individual liberty as outlined in the U.S. Constitution
and Bill of Rights. Treating the Bill of Rights as an ala carte menu
(accepting some parts, denying others) will be cause for disqualification.
Sites may not
contain racist, hateful, or obscene material (as a Supreme Court Justice
once said, I'll know it when I see it), nor may they promote violence.
Religious sites will not be considered. Sites do not have to
be child friendly.
RABBLE ROUSER
AWARD CRITERIA - in recognition that not every patriot is also a graphic
designer
- Award will
be based primarily on content rather than design. Design will only
be considered if load time is excessive (more than a minute on a
DSL connection), which will result in a disqualification. The exception
for design consideration will be exceptionally poor color combinations
or monster collections of unrelated graphics on display, either
of which will result in negative impressions.
- Sites that
are only collections of links, regardless of how helpful,
will not be considered.
- There should
be a minimum of broken links, no more than 2 per page for internal
links.
- Repeated examples
of improper grammar and/or spelling will disqualify the site (more
than 5 examples of either per page).
- Site should
be a minimum of 5 pages, not including splash page (if used).
REVOLUTIONARY
AWARD CRITERIA - to acknowledge good content in tandem with good design
- Award will
be based on both content and design. Excessive load time, excessive
animations (more than 5 per page, not including advertising), or
excessive banner advertising (on any page), and excessive webring
displays (on the home page) will result in disqualification, as
will any color combination(s) that makes my eyeballs vibrate. Use
of Flash for no reason whatsoever other than to use Flash will result
in negative impressions.
- Sites that
are only collections of links, regardless of how helpful,
will not be considered.
- Continuity
of design from page to page is expected.
- Ease of navigation
will be considered and will weigh heavily toward final determinations.
- A few typos
will be excused; bad grammar will not be, nor will significant numbers
of misspellings (more than 3 per page).
- There should
be a minimum of broken links, with no broken internal linnks.
- Frequency of
updates and freshness of material will be considered.
- Site should
be a minimum of 10 pages, not including splash page (if used).
PATRIOT AWARD
CRITERIA - for truly exceptional content and design, and NOT an easy
award to get
- Award will
be based on both content and design.
- Criteria will
be much as for the REVOLUTIONARY AWARD, but tolerances will be much
narrower, and standards generally higher.
- Use of Flash
or Java will count as pluses provided they neither crash my browser
nor require excessive load times, both of which will disqualify
the site.

reference, see previous winners
of this award.
