This Week
March 14 There's a new Action Alert needing your attention today. And as an added bonus, if you can help get Congress to do its job to ensure the federal government does its job, you'll be helping men and women you don't even know to get jobs for themselves.
March 12 This is Sunshine Week 2012! Now's the time to take action to ensure government transparency and freedom of speech.
Over the weekend, I saw John Carter. The movie review is here. And yes, the latest Tweets of the Week are posted! Don't miss the humor, intelligence, or bizarre combinations of the two.
March 4 Lots has happened over the course of the last week and I was unable to resist commenting on several of the headlines. See this week's Our View for my Bits & Pieces in the news. This week's movie review is for the very affecting (and effective) Act of Valor.
Tweets of the Week
...culled from Twitter for the week ending March 10, 2012. Amused? Intrigued? Follow these folks on twitter! (Feel free to follow me, too, while you're at it!)
- AG_Conservative Obama is like the guy who tells you he has your back and then runs away as soon as your back is turned.
- KurtSchlichter I don't think Sandra Fluke is a "slut" - I think she's a whiny moocher with fascist tendencies. If she was a slut I'd like her better.
- garrison_gold My oath is to the Constitution, NOT to the Republican Party. - Ron Paul
- JohnSWright49 All of @barackobama's TV appearances should have a warning label "Will cause Nausea & Brain damage" and be rated "L" for Lies
- JohnSWright49 NO @barackobama, working with ACORN does NOT count as Military Service.
- Papatul All Obama has to do to lower gas prices is just announce he's not seeking re-election!
- TheFlaCracker I childproofed my house, but they still get in.
- johnhawkinsrwn I think you should pay for your own mortgage, birth control, & college loans. It's not because I'm conservative, it's because I'm an adult
Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty!
There's a lot going on in Washington and elsewhere these days, and almost none of it is good. Vigilance has never been more critical, and our failure to take actions as warranted will almost certainly never have more lasting and detrimental consequences. We are now quite literally at a crossroads in the life of this country. If we turn one direction, we can retain and restore freedom; if we turn the other, we will lose liberty, almost certainly forever. Which road will you take?
Why act? Why now?
Perhaps history has seen darker days, but in several generations, we have not. We face an activist judiciary inclined to re-interpret rather than interpret the Constitution, and so re-write law. We have a president who all too often disregards the Constitution altogether. We see the nationalization of industry and the financial sector, overregulation all too often intended to stymie growth and increase government dependence, and the socialism of healthcare (despite denials, we all know better, don't we?). We see unprecedented government growth which will almost certainly result in unprecedented tax burdens some of which are already imminent thanks to "Obamacare." And there's worse...
If I'm lucky, by what I do here I might help to preserve liberty. And if I'm not, I will at least go down fighting. I humbly ask that you join me in those endeavors. The worst thing that we could possibly do is nothing...
